—My Personal Experience in the yoga community
ℐ'd never tried Yoga before. However, I'd known kind Ms. Heffer through her friend Sue Frankel before she reached out to me to piece together a website. After putting ideas together for a few weeks, we agreed to try to meet within an actual Yoga class.
I came a few minutes late to my first class, yet felt immediately welcome to join. Heffer gave me a mat to roll out, so that I could sit, listen, watch, try, and learn. Looking around, I saw people coming from various stages in life, performing at various stages of Yoga skill, but all following Heffer's lead. Though I could have been intimidated at the thought of joining in with no experience, that can't have lasted long before I felt at ease with Heffer's guidance. I felt very personally attended to whenever I needed further help learning a new pose; her hands-on assistance helped each pose to feel as it should.
As I continued to attend Yoga weekly, Heffer's reassurances taught us, it's not about mastering the poses. It's about how it makes you feel. This isn't a no-pain no-gain exercise; you don't strain through the poses waiting for bliss at the end. Bliss is in every pose.
